Given feedback from the membership and that we have to make a decision given the data that we have now, the Board has made the decision that the 2021 convention will again be virtual.  It is our hope that we will be able to meet in person for 2022!

Call for Proposals:

Proposals are currently being accepted for the 2021 Annual Convention of the School Science and Mathematics Association.

THE CALL FOR PROPOSALS IS CLOSED.

Types of sessions:

  • Regular Sessions (25 minutes or 50 minutes): This session is designed to present information on projects, course innovations, program innovations or other science, mathematics, and STEM initiatives. Audience members will have time to ask questions.
  • Research Sessions (25 minutes or 50 minutes): This session is designed for the presentation of a research project or study. Audience members will have time to ask questions.
  • Workshop Sessions (75 minutes): This session is designed to engage participants in an interactive environment to explore mathematics, science, STEM research, projects, or initiatives.
  • Suddenly Online (25 minutes): Teaching and learning have taken a dramatic turn in the last year with COVID-19.  These presentations will focus on lessons learned from adjusting to online lectures, labs, tests, group work and other pedagogical adventures.  Presenters are encouraged to address successes as well as things that did not go as hoped.
  • Three Minute Thesis- 3MT®: Present your research and its significance in three minutes. This session is great for graduate students and other researchers who want to engage the audience in a compelling oration of their research in 180 seconds.

Use the 2021 Call for Proposals form to submit your proposal. You will be asked for the following information:

  • Name, Affiliation, and email for all co-presenters
  • Presentation Title (100 characters or less)
  • Presentation Abstract (limited to 400 characters with spaces; this is what will be in the program)
  • Proposal Description (limited to 2500 characters with spaces)

Technology

  • The convention platform is Whova which will have a desktop and mobile app for you to access the convention.
  • It is recommended that SPEAKERS join their sessions using a DESKTOP COMPUTER and the DESKTOP APP so that they will have better access to controls in their ZOOM meeting sessions that are hosted on Whova.

PLEASE NOTE:  All presenters are required to register for the convention by Oct. 1st.  If not registered by that date, names may be dropped from the program.
